September in a nut shell.....

I can't believe September is almost over and just like last time, it has been forever since I have blogged....I really need to work on this! SO here is a recap of our last month here!

We have spent lost of time at the parks here, the kids love it and it gives us some time with the people we came here to be with. We went to a park called Carol park with our team leader and saw something very interesting....

This is some kind of fire truck thing that was taking people for rides....no safety things for the people. They were just loaded in and the gate closed and you held on! Holding on in this picture is Ray with the big kids!

In this picture, our team leader took Parker up! I guess it was fun, but I thought I would keep my two feet on the ground! The little boys didn't go either!

I also made a trip to a glass factory here with some other ladies. It was pretty neat. They blow the glass there and have tons of things to purchase at really good prices.....I kind of feel like I am trying to make a commercial for them....but most of you are to far away to make the trip here to see the super cool totally worth the trip glass factory! Her are some pictures from the glass factory....

Is the picture above what you think of when you think of beautiful glass products....

The picture above is off all these glass balls they make. They are called friendship balls. There are boxes and boxes of them. And this last picture I just love, it is where all the broken glass goes!

My mom was here for the last 10 days and just left this morning. It was sad to see her go, but I am so thankful she was able to come and spend time with us. We spent at the park with the kids....

We also spent lots of time shopping and drinking coffee...

Now life is back to normal, well as normal as living in a different country, trying to learn to language, and trying to drive without being hit by crazy drivers like I was yesterday! No one was hurt, just a little cracked mirror...oh well....such is life in Romania!

its been a crazy 2 months!!

We have now been here in Romania for 2 months, and I can't believe it has been that long. Time has gone by pretty fast. We have been super busy so that helps. Here is kind of a recap of our last two months here!We have been very busy with language school, we go 4 days a week for 3 hours each day. We have about an hour commute each day. This is a picture of us at school. School takes place in the living room of a very sweet lady! She is a wonderful teacher!Parker and Lizzie have had their first week of school and they love it! It makes things much easier for them and for me if they love school and love their teachers. They were both so excited when they got home and they were so happy they had both made friends! Here is a picture of them on their first day of school! It is pretty early, they have to leave around 7:00 a.m to get there. Lucky for me, my neighbor teaches there and she takes them everyday!
We also have all visa paper work turned in! We have to go pick up our long term visa the 1st of October. It took a very long time and we had to have the kids with us and we had to go on two different days. There was a couple of things we had to do, we had to go buy health insurance before we could get a visa so here is a picture of the building we had to go to for this...
And then our next stop was to the Department of Immigration. This is were we had to go twice. And this is what took the longest amount of time.
But we are thankful that it is over and that we get to stay!
We have also done some fun stuff! We took the kids to a water park and they had a great time. We went back to school shopping and that is always fun! And we have eaten at McDonald's a few times and they love that! We also went out to dinner for Rays birthday with our language teacher and her family and another couple here, it was a great night!

I am doing things here that I never thought I would do...I can drive by myself! I can take the metro by myself!, I shop by myself and I go to the piata (kind of like a farmers market) by myself, and that is more difficult then you would think because not very many people speak English there so I have to use my very limited Romanian to get what I need! We also have gotten used to some pretty strange things like people park on the sidewalks here, or really where ever they can find a place!.
We have also gotten used to all the stray dogs, which are everywhere! They mostly just are laying around on the sidewalks or door ways! They usually just leave you alone. There has only been one time we were barked at by some dogs and that was enough for me! I would have taken a picture of the dogs, but they freak me out so I ignore them!

There are days I am walking by myself and I look around and think....wow I am really living in another country! It stills seems strange, but I am trying to make it home. There are days I love it here and there are days I don't so much!! But I always get past it, and I am very glad we are here.
